100th Post :: Mrs M speaks :: Craft

This is our 100th post, we thought it was time that Mrs M got involved and wrote a post. She's never short of things to say and she is nearly always involved in everything we do (not with the Lego though, she's not much of a fan, takes her an hour to build a tiny car - according to Seth).
Mrs M really loves the crafty activities. We met at university both studying the arts so were very creative. Anyhow this isn't my post so ill leave you in the very capable hands of the woman i adore...

Seth has always loved doing creative things, as a baby around 18months he'd want the Play Doh out at 6am, and we'd be creating things together. As his Mom, I love to spend time with him, watching him create from his imagination. This week we were looking on The Works at some books and noticed they have a new Craft section.... Seth asked if we could order some things from The Works next time I was going to give him some pocket money... Instead when I finished work early the other day, I left my meeting and headed straight to The Works in our town centre.

The selection was really great for Opeie and Seth's needs, and they spent all afternoon creating lovely pictures with goggly eyes, wooden sticks, pom poms and pipe cleaners.... the whole lot came under £10 including the big bottles of paint, paint brushes and the sponge brushes Seth loves to use.... ( they're also great for Opeie as the handles are shorter and chubby)

They made some really lovely things and I had a lovely time too! We pegged the pictures on the line to dry and then it was onto playing Superheroes with Daddy! Because it's the holidays I find it increasingly difficult to think of fun, interesting/yet educational things to do with the boys, that don't cost the earth... and the great thing about the things we bought from The Works is that we can use them again. ( I think we will have many many days crafting , Seth has already decided that he wants to build a Robot suit he can climb inside like Intergalactic).

We have also been making Superhero masks, Seth made a couple , Cyclops and 'The Amazing Climber' and Pauly made ' Captain Fabulous' ( Using false eye lashes from my Make Up kit! Thank goodness I work as a Make up artist otherwise I might get angry as I have hundreds of pairs of lashes around the house!) The other eye was some white netting that the oranges were in.

 The other day we were all in the house, raining crazily outside, all played out with our favourite toys... Seth asked me if I would 'do some make up on him like Two Face' .... so I got out my really great Face Paints, and started to paint him....

Seth Before.......
Two Face Seth
 it was pretty easy, I didn't want to go all out as his patience level wasn't great that day after being in the house all day... (Cabin Fever) so I kept it simple!

Seth was really happy with the look and made me paint my face as BatWoman! Which I didn't mind at all... Seth said he's going to buy me the BatGirl costume next time he goes to Toys R Us with his pocket money - Bless him.... such a sweet boy! I think that we might have some sort of dressing up thing this year, maybe a small Halloween get together somewhere.

Well, that was Gifts From The Pirates 100th Blog post! I really enjoy reading Pauly's posts and think that he is creating something lovely for others to read , and a lasting memory for our boys... they are growing too fast! We have SO many fun, and exciting things planned for the next 2 years, keep watching to find out what we're up to! Thanks for reading.... Mrs M xxxx

The Works is a pretty good shop for all this stuff, I've bought canvasses and okay paper for painting and drawing on. And it's cheap! Good stuff for kids, good recommendation, and also it's great to do this stuff with kids

I've just bought some of these things that you bought from the works for my twins. I would love to be able to make some things to keep... hand prints, and messy art work. Did you get the canvas' recently? I love this blog and keep checking to see what you've been buying. I've never heard of the works, but now i'll be spending a fortune.
