"Those who trust to chance must abide by the results of chance."

I love the weekends and with Mrs M at work all week we do our best to make the most of the full days that we get together. The weather hasn't been great the last few days but yesterday we decided to be positive and take a chance and head to the beach (crazy I know). It was touch and go for a while driving down with a few light showers but I'm so glad we ventured out. There was a chill in the air but the sun was shining.

We arrived at lunch time and despite our best efforts at having our lunch on a blanket outside, the cold breeze got the better of Mrs M so we resorted to one of our famous 'car picnics'

After filling our tummies we headed out, wrapped up and ready to walk off our grub. Opeie was looking pretty wind swept up on my shoulders bless him but that didn't stop him being his usual excited self.

The boys love being on the beach, the blue sky and the fantastic scenery gave us a great opportunity to take some lovely pictures.

Mrs m really feels the cold so after a while we headed back to the car so that she could warm up a little. We drove over to the other side of the island for a bit of Investigating and stumbled across a part we'd not been to before. Beautiful empty sand dunes and plenty of untouched sand for adventure. The temperature had shot up a bit too and the sun was warming the sand up.

Seth was more than happy digging a big hole so me and Mrs M did what we do best and acted like a couple of over excited teenagers and spent some time messing about and taking photos, I don't think we'll ever grow up.

It wasn't long before Opeie came to get in on the action. He loves been thrown up in the air...

Over the other side of the dunes we walked along the sea front and skimmed some stones.

There was a huge jelly fish washed up and we did our best to move it further out into the sea but I think it was too late, sad times.

Opeie was exhausted as he had skipped his afternoon nap due to the excitement of the day but Seth was desperate to dig one last hole before we left.

And then back to the car for a snack and sleepy time for Opeie. It was a spur of the moment day out that could have gone either way with the weather being the way it had, but we were really lucky and it turned out to be a great day.

It was an amazing day out with my three favourite people. Being a little bit greedy though its got me thinking 'will we get chance to squeeze another sunny beach day in this year before its to late?'.

I miss living by the beach, there are few things better than a windswept autumnal beach walk
