Gifts From the Pirates in Orlando - Disney character dining

Yesterday morning we were all excited about going to the Disney character breakfast that Mrs M had booked as it was one of our favourite days when we went there on Mothers day last year. Sadly when we arrived there had been an error their end and we had to find something else to do. To make up for it the reservation was rebooked for this morning and as an apology they offered to make a big fuss of Seth as it was booked to celebrate his belated Birthday ( not that he knew). We all woke up this morning and were in high spirits (although there was slight tears when we left the condo from a still tired boy), the weather was glorious as we expected and we were hungry and ready to fill our tummies on the great food the Disney resort has to offer.

If you are a Disney fan then character dining is a must, its a great way for the kids to meet the characters and your meal is filled with great photo opportunities for your holiday snaps. The breakfast is situated at the Disney Beach Resort at the Cape May Cafe, which really is a beautiful resort and if we had the money to spend on it we would probably stay there. The staff are all dressed the part and there is a really nice atmosphere. We were a little early so when we checked in they gave us an electronic device so that they could call us when our table was available giving us the freedom to investigate the resort.

Seth was really excited and Opeies face lit up when he saw Minnie, Goofy and Donald walking about meeting the customers and posing for photographs. Mrs M commented on what a great job that would be, me obviously being the negative one in our party pointed out that it wouldnt be if you had been out drinking the night before. Although being able to put 'currently i am Minnie Mouse' on your CV would be pretty fun.

The characters came round to see us and gave the boys a hug, Seth was very affectionate which was cute and Opeie LOVED Goofy and spent most of his meal looking about for him. The main focus of the breakfast is the characters but the food, the food is AMAZING and me and Mrs M concentrated on filling our faces. The breakfast is a buffet that you can help yourself to, as much as you like during the time you have your table (which is one hour), The selection of different foods is unbelievable making it easy to gorge yourself to an over expanded waist line. Unlike everywhere else we go the Disney resort also went out of their way to make sure Mrs M's and Opeies Dietry needs were catered for. they even managed to serve up cup cakes and Mickey shaped waffles that were dairy, egg, soya and gluten free making then both very smiley customers.

There was a 'Happy Birthday' message waiting for us at the table and Seth was given a birthday cupcake with a candle to blow out while everyone sang happy birthday to him. The waitress also gave him a Birthday badge and a Disney card signed by all of the characters which was really lovely. Seth left the meal feeling very special and a little overwhelmed.

The Disney character breakfast was a great start to another fun day in the sun. The food set us up for the afternoon and thanks to Ingrid our waitress who despite being rushed of her feet still managed to make us feel like we were the only customers she was taking care of.

Thanks Ingrid.
