"We make up horrors to help us cope with the real ones."

                                                                       Day 1... (part 2)

With another 4 weeks of national lockdown starting now, I'm feeling like the only way through this is back to daily activities concentrating on creativity. The creative lockdown project really helped to keep us in a Calm and focused headspace while the whole world was falling apart. So for the next 4 weeks our home-ed will be focussing solely on a variety of creative activities base on a word of the day. It's been a really tough month emotionally and I think we both want to be feeling better about the path that we are on. I'm kicking off our project with our LEGO Halloween build for this year, an explosion of black and orange.

Stay safe people and keep on creating.

It's a metaphor you potato with eyes"

It seems to be all about the events at the moment and I'm loving every minute of it. The blog has opened so many doors for us as a family and being able to work with companies I love has been a dream come true. It seems that before attending these soirée's I have made accessorising my phone with a relevant theme my thing and this weeks event is no different.

Since trading in our depressing TV license for a much more entertaining Netflix subscription many years ago my evenings have been filled with all manner of great shows, documentaries and countless movies. Having that sort of choice at my fingertips and not having to channel flick to find it means my evenings are so much more relaxing, whether I'm fully concentrating or just have it on in the background while I write.

The list of Netflix originals has been getting bigger and bigger over the years and we're hooked on quite a few of them. The new series of Orange is the new black starts this week though and after being glued to the first two seasons I've been really looking forward to it starting. As I said at the start of the post it's been a week of events and after being invited to the Orange is the new black launch party it was clearly time to to start creating my accessory. After my dinosaur case this weekend I was looking forward to building something colourful, clearly the colour scheme was obvious.

Most people that know me wouldn't believe this but I'm quite a shy person at these events. The phone cases serve as a bit of an ice breaker, although this is the first I've made for a none LEGO event. It'll be strange not having my other accessory with me this time though, Opeie (my wing man). I'm not used to this whole 'doing things without the boys' so it's going to be interesting.

Anyway Orange is the new black series 3 starts Friday and if you haven't watched it yet it comes highly recommended.

"The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love colour the most."

I generally try and pick one thing a day to concentrate on with Opeie's learning. Some days it letters others its numbers but over the last few days me and Mrs M have been working on his colours which is going really well. While doing her usual window shopping on amazon Mrs M spotted some colour flash cards that were perfect for Opeie and and great for us too.

Both being quite arty and coming from a creative background we have both used pantone referencing in the past so these pantone flash cards are great. On the one side of the card is solid colour with the colour name and reference code and in the other side is cute drawings relevant to colour and description (very cute).

These have been stuck all around the house and we ask Opeie throughout the day what each colour is. He's getting a lot better at knowing his colours now which were really pleased about. I love watching Opeie develop and he seems to have changed so much over the last few weeks with his speech. Its great to know everything is moving in the right direction and he's not struggling to much with anything.
