"If you want to see the sunshine, you have to weather the storm. "

Today i planned to take Opeie to his pottery class as we haven't been for the last two weeks. Mrs M was at college so i wanted to get out and about. It was quite cold but the sun was desperately trying to warm everywhere up so i wanted to make the most of it before we got more rain or even snow like yesterday. Opeie had other ideas though and being the bookworm that he is he just wanted to lie on our bed under the duvet and be read to. So after reading The Cat in the Hat, The Cat in the Hat Comes back, Green Eggs and ham, Dr Seuss ABC, scrambled egg supper, if I ran the zoo, crazy colours, nutty numbers, dizzy days and how The Grinch stole Christmas, (It's been the usual Seuss fuelled kind of day) I decided it was time to get outside for a bit (but not before Opeie washed his hands a few times, i think he has a little OCD on the way).

I hadn't let the rabbits out at this point so I wrapped Opeie up and we headed up the garden. Opeie hadn't been up to the rabbits for a while as it was really wet and muddy. Today's burst of sunlight had dried the ground out a little so I put Opeie's outdoor table in part of the rabbit run so we could sit and draw while watching the bunnies. Being the organised dad that I am I printed off lots of rabbit pictures for us to colour in and keep Opeie entertained which he loved.

Opeie must have known it was muddy in the garden as he opted for his fancy pink Peppa pig wellies (this next pictures for you nanny Roo).

The temperature dropped after about 40 minutes so we headed inside for a spot of lunch and of course an extra helping of Dr Seuss before picking up Seth from school.

"There is no friend as loyal as a book."

It's been a few weeks since my last 'waiting in the car post' so I was definitely due one. Mrs M needed to be somewhere so once we had dropped her off I parked up and got in the back to entertain Opeie while we waited. I usually take the iPad with me but it was dead from our journey last night (which I will be writing about later), so I was pleased to find some books in the side door.

Opeie had been clutching two Miffy magnets which he had borrowed from the fridge and decided to take out for an adventure.

The magnets were the same size as the characters in the books so we read them and made up our own bits to include the Miffy magnets in the story. Lucky Miffy got to celebrate Christmas with Peppa and her family, play peek a boo in the night garden and go sledging with Boris Bear.

I love how happy children get when you make effort and really take the time to interact with them.

Thankfully we were not waiting to long and after reading each of the books twice (changing the story of course), Mrs M was back and we headed home. So the conclusion to our activity is, Waiting in the car = a very happy Opeie, who's favourite part I think was the excitement over Miffy in the book and his magnet wearing the same dress!

"cant stop long ive got lots of work to do today! ive got the supermarket checkout, the icecream stall and the bus drive..."

Ive been meaning to write a Peppa pig post for a few weeks but wasn't sure how to start it until a couple of days ago. Opeie has a habit of getting to the tills at Asda and going mad for the gift cards mainly because recently they have had ones with Spider-man on, this shopping trip was no different except this time it was a Peppa pig card that he had spotted.

I feel a little guilty sometimes that Opeie doesn't have much of a choice when it comes to toys in the house, it's all super heroes and action figures. A few weeks back we were in a shop when Opeie spotted a Peppa pig colouring book and did the usual arms stretched out as far as he could mixed with a series of grunts to get his hands on it. As we were just round the corner of Toys R Us we decided to take him in to get a Peppa pig toy. Opeie watches it a fair bit and its only fair that  he has something he loves rather than selfish me loading up on toys i love. So we brought him a camper van with accessories and luckily there was an offer on so we got a car and extra Peppa figure for free.

I'd love to be able to say he plays with them all the time but sadly Peppa and her family don't get anywhere near as much  attention as Spider-man, Batman and the Star wars figures. So maybe i was doing the right thing with all the Super Hero stuff. I'm sure Batman and the rest of his team can make use of the Camper van though. Everyone needs a break, after all they cant be avenging Gotham 365 days a year.

I was considering buying Opeie some Ben and Holly toys but Ive got a feeling they would go the same way. Opeie is currently walking round the house holding the Riddler's car wearing batman sweatbands so i think its safe to say he's a super hero fan through and through.

Mrs M will probably be happy that this means it wont be another collection ill be starting. Also if we did have more of the collection me and Mrs M would be fighting over Miss Rabbit because lets face it, shes amazing.
